Capital Improvments Named On Hackensack Manager's Progress Report

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- City Manager David Troast has issued his report on Hackensack accomplishments for the prior year.

Among the items he reported are capital improvement projects throughout the city. They include the Atlantic Street Park, Pulaski Park, and energy upgrades to Fire Department Headquarters and operational upgrades to Fire House No. 2.

The city also completed basketball courts and a walking path with funds from the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund.

The city improved railroad crossings at State Street, Central Avenue and Main Street. It videotaped combined sewers as part of a federal Environmental Protection Administration study, accomplished work on sewer separations, and did curb and drainage improvement on Summit Avenue.

The following streets were paved to “Energy Strong Upgrade” standards:

  • East Broadway
  • Frederick Street
  • Jackson Avenue
  • Kennedy Street
  • Blauvelt Place
  • Williams Avenue
  • Bonhomme Avenue
  • Marion Street

A total of 11, 392 linear feet for city streets were paved, under the program, while 4,070 linear feet were paved with a combination of Hackensack city funds, Dept. of Transportation funding and Community Development Block Grants. Those streets include:

  • Prospect Avenue
  • Coles Avenue
  • Grand Avenue
  • Stanley Place
  • Berry Street
  • Newman Street
  • Hobart Street
  • Porter Street

Three additional streets or portions were repaved, for a total of 2,160 linear feet. They include:

  • Terrace Place
  • Tracy Place
  • Coles Avenue

The total contract for 2015 road resurfacing in Hackensack was $873,426.00.
